Thể khẳng định: (+) S + was/ were ..
Thể phủ định: (-) S + was/were not  (was not = wasn’t were not = weren’t)
Thể nghi vấn: (?) Was/Were+ S .? Yes, S + was/ were. 
 No, S + wasn’t/ weren’t.
Ex: (+) She was ill yesterday.
 (-) She wasn’t ill yesterday.
 (?) Was she ill yesterday?
b- Động từ thường (V):
 (+) S + V-ed/ V2 + . (V-ed: Vcqt, V2 : Vbqt)
 (-) S + did not + Vbare infinitive  (did not = didn’t)
 (?) Did + S + Vbare infinitive ? Yes, S + did. 
 No, S + didn’t
Ex1: (+) I watched TV last night.
