1. MỘT VÀI QUY TẮC VỀ TRỌNG ÂM (STRESS)
 Quy tắc Ví dụ Ngoại lệ
 1. Từ có 2 vần: Candy, really, active, carrot Cadec, divine, 
 - Thường nhấn ở vần đầu Dictate, present, export, rebel possess, guitar, 
 - Danh từ hoặc tính từ: nhấn ở vần đầu Dictate, present, export, rebel patrol, manure
 - Động từ: nhấn ở vần cuối
 2. Các từ tận cùng là: IC, ION, IA, IAL, IAN, Economic, revision, colonial, Arithmetic, heretic, 
 IAR, IENCE, IENCY, IENT, IANCE, IUM, magnesia, musician, familiar, appliance, reliance, 
 IOUS, EOUS, UOUS, trọng âm thường đặt experience, efficient, defiance
 ngay trước những âm này allegiance, gymnasium, 
 abstemious, continuous
 3. Các từ tận cùng là: OUS, ATE, TUDE, Adventurous, considerate, Incarnate, 
 ITY, ETY, AL, LOGY, GRAPHY, METRY, altitude, capacity, variety, disastrous
 NOMY, CY trọng âm thường từ âm thứ 3 từ mechanical, astrology, 
 sau ra trước. photography, calorimetry, 
 antinomy, democracy
 4. Các từ tận cùng là: ADE, EE, ESE, EER, Charade, referee, Vietnamese, Centigrade, 
 OO, OON, ETTE, ESQUE, trọng âm thường engineer, taboo, balloon, committee, 
 nhấn ở vần cuối. cigarette, burlesque overseer
 5. Danh từ kép, trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết đầu Blackbird, greenhouse
